Dr. Costas Papastavros
Studied at the University of Athens (BSc in Biology/Geology), University of Manchester (MSc in Pollution and Environmental Control, and PhD in Environmental Sciences), and University of Geneva (Advanced Studies in Environmental Diplomacy), Costas has more than 40 years of experience in private and public sectors on various environmental topics/ fields.
Studied at the University of Athens (BSc in Biology/Geology), University of Manchester (MSc in Pollution and Environmental Control, and PhD in Environmental Sciences), and University of Geneva (Advanced Studies in Environmental Diplomacy), Costas has more than 40 years of experience in private and public sectors on various environmental topics/ fields.
Costas has been involved in noumerous research and policy-implementation projects, as well as administration practices. During his well-established career he acquired extensive experience on establishing/ monitoring and executing projects, programmes and plans on environmental pollution and control practices, environmental monitoring and management systems, project management, environmental impact assessments, emergency planning, occupational health and safety, ecological studies, waste and chemicals’ management, climate change policies and practices, management of natural resources, etc. He was also involved in numerous EU and national research and development projects, public awareness activities, as well as training schemes. Among others, he was appointed during the 2009-2013 as the Environment Counsellor and Coordinator of the Environment Team at the Permanent Representation of Cyprus to the EU (Brussels-based) for the first Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU (2012).
In addition to the above, he has been lecturing for more than 10 years at the University of Nicosia as a faculty member on Energy and Environment Courses.
During the last decade he offers consultancy and environmental protection services.
He presented numerous subjects in European Conferences and Fora; he is editor and contributor to five books and author of more than 4000 articles in the local press and journals.
